The Salem Initiative Photo Contest Terms & Conditions

Competition open to all photographers aged 18 or over. Younger photographers can participate if legal guardians agree to all terms listed below.

An overall winner will be announced, as well as winners in the following categories: night images, Salem area landmarks, local natural landscapes, and the people of Salem.

Images that incorporate large areas of dark or light space upon which contrasting text could be placed for marketing materials are encouraged and appreciated.

There is no maximum number of entries per person per contest. Multiple entries are encouraged.

Each image can only be entered once. Duplicates will be removed.

The image must be your original work.

The image must not include watermarks. If the images are used by The Salem Initiative or any associated non-profit organization, the photographer will be credited in a way that is consistent for all photos used.

You must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of all image entered.

Source material or proof of permission to use must be made available on request by The Salem Initiative.

The Salem Initiative does not accept any liability for the publication of unlawfully reproduced images.

Computer-generated or computer-altered images will not be accepted. Artwork and illustrations will not be accepted.

To enter, send images at email attachments to info@thesaleminitiative.com by the closing date specified within the contest.

Image should be submitted as jpgs.

Each jpg should be a maximum of 300dpi and ideally less than 2MB in file size, with your name and the subject in the title.

All entries must be submitted via the email address listed above.

The Salem Initiative takes no responsibility for corrupted or late entries.

By entering your image, you grant The Salem Initiative and all associated non-profit groups the non-exclusive right to reproduce it for any purpose at any time in any media with attribution. For example, we may use your images on www.thesaleminitiative.com.

The winners consent to the use of their image, name and/or photograph in any publicity carried out by The Salem Initiative, without further compensation.

The winning image will be judged by local civic leaders who are yet to be determined.

All photos will be judged anonymously.

The Salem Initiative’s decisions on all matters relating to the competition is final. No correspondence will be entered into.

The overall winning image will be announced by The Salem Initiative and featured on thesaleminitiative.com.
